ABOUT US…
The Bahá’í Faith is a worldwide religion whose central purpose is the spiritual and material advancement of humanity. Founded by Bahá’u’lláh in the mid-19th century, it teaches the oneness of God, the oneness of religion, and the oneness of the human family. At its heart is the conviction that humanity is moving through our current difficult adolescence toward a time of global peace and unity, and that every person has a role to play in building this future just and flourishing civilization.
Bahá’ís believe that true social progress emerges from both personal spiritual transformation and collective action. This principle shapes the pattern of community life developing in tens of thousands of localities around the world—one defined by meaningful relationships, shared learning, and a commitment to service. Guided by the Universal House of Justice (the international Council heading the Bahá’í Faith., Bahá’ís everywhere strive to strengthen their neighborhoods through educational activities, devotional gatherings, and initiatives that help populations take charge of their own development.
Across every region of the United States, this vision finds practical expression in networks of individuals and institutions working together to build capacity, foster unity, and support communities in their efforts to apply Bahá’u’lláh’s teachings to daily life. Regional structures help coordinate learning, reinforce collaboration among local communities, and ensure that resources and support reach friends wherever they live.
The work unfolding at the regional level—whether through training, accompaniment, or community-building endeavors—is part of a coherent global effort. It contributes to a process that is steadily empowering individuals, families, and neighborhoods to become active protagonists in the spiritual and social transformation of society.
From this perspective, regional initiatives are not administrative layers—they are channels through which the Bahá’í community helps release the constructive powers of the Faith, enabling thousands of people to walk a path of service together and to advance, step by step, toward the unity of humankind.

Community building, a “...process that seeks to raise capacity within a population to take charge of its own spiritual, social and intellectual development. The activities that drive this process, and in which newly found friends are invited to engage—meetings that strengthen the devotional character of the community; classes that nurture the tender hearts and minds of children; groups that channel the surging energies of junior youth; circles of study, open to all, that enable people of varied backgrounds to advance on equal footing and explore the application of the teachings to their individual and collective lives…”
